GlemNet are a small telecoms business specialising in hardware, broadband and low cost international telephone calls.
Promptchat’s live chat software was introduced to help improve the flow of website traffic, said Neil Linter MD; “Before we had Promptchat we had no way of knowing what people really thought about the site.
Now we have the chat button, we know when it “rings” someone will be telling us something we really ought to be listening to. When asked how they use it? Linter replied “To be honest with you we don’t want to talk with everyone so we don’t instigate chats. We wait for the site visitors to start chatting. That is better for us, and my staff who get a buzz from dealing with motivated buyers instead of time wasters”.
When asked about the people who come and go without no contact he declared “ In our experience it is better to leave people alone than try and coerce them in with some smart chat up line. We tried this first of all and it put people off and demoralised the staff. Since we changed it around we have made improvements to the site as a result of things being pointed out to us by the visitors”.
Since then GlemNet have gone from being a successful offline business to a successful online business. Linter joked “Look I know you guys want to take all the credit but believe me we do have a good web designer you know”.
